Lake District Wedding Photographer | Mal & Sam

One of the perks of wedding photography is that most of your work is done during the Summer months. Personally, I really enjoy winter weddings as much as the Summer ones. There’s a completely different vibe to them. The darker mornings and the light closing in when you’re only halfway through the afternoon all adds to the day.

Add a dramatic wedding venue like Armathwaite Hall, on the banks of Bassenthwaite Lake, at the top end of the Lake District to the January weather, and you’re set for a dramatic day.

Mal and Sam got married in the Lake District in January. Armathwaite Hall is just beautiful and the surrounding area…well…it’s the Lake District. Everyone knows what the Lakes are like. Just stunning.

The whole wedding day was at the hall, so I joined them at the crack of dawn, just as the sun was beginning to rise, to photograph Mal and her Bridesmaids getting ready & I was there right the way through to the dancing in the evening.

It was a fantastic day. There was dog walking in the morning, lots of wedding joy and then Polish dancing in the evening, which is a photographic challenge in itself. Also, it was the lakes, in January, of course it rained.
